Broadcast and media groups upgrade to Panasonic ENG Camcorders with AVC-ULTRA

Broadcasters are increasingly investing in our new AJ-PX range of P2HD cameras, the AJ-PX270EN, AJ-PX380G, AJ-PX800G and AJ-PX5000G, so that they are ready to make the next step in ENG workflow evolution: IP based workflows.

Panasonic US recently reported that Meredith Corporation’s Broadcast Group outfitted Phoenix’s KTVK-TV with 30 Panasonic AJ-PX800 AVC-ultra shoulder-mounts for field news operations, while the Cox Media Group (CMG) has initiated a group-wide upgrade of electronic newsgathering utilising three of Panasonic’s latest AVC-ULTRA camcorder models, the AJ-PX5000G 2/3″ P2HD shoulder-mount, the AJ-PX800 2/3″ P2HD shoulder-mount and the 1/3″ AJ-PX270 P2HD handheld.

Mathew Alexander, the Product Marketing Manager for our Broadcast and Professional Video Division within the Panasonic Australia Business Systems Group said that upgrading to these cameras put those broadcasters in a fantastic position for a future transition to P2 Cast, the next innovation of ENG workflow.

“Cox Media and Meredith Corporation are just a few of the latest broadcasters to purchase Panasonic cameras that allow them to continue to keep using their existing P2HD solid state media workflow but be poised to transition to IP based workflow as or when required. The IP workflow options that are built into the new AJ-PX270EN, AJ-PX800G and AJ-PX5000G P2HD camcorders mean that without a total re-investment in cameras a broadcaster like Cox Media could transition to live streaming, FTP upload and/or cloud based workflows such as P2-Cast (currently being trailed in the USA and Europe),” Mathew said.
