FZ-G1 Toughpad features in ‘Transport & Logistic News’

Industry site, Transport & Logistic News recently published Panasonic research that revealed how rough transport and warehousing workers can be on their mobile devices. The site also published a recommendation from Jason Lee, Product Marketing Manager for Toughbook at Panasonic Australia, hailing the Panasonic FZ-G1 Toughpad as a perfect example of a rugged device designed to handle the stress of this fast-paced work environment.

According to the research published, the transport and warehousing sector is highly reliant on mobile computer devices. Across such tasks as tracking inventories, executing transactions, integrating processes, and collaborating with internal and external business partners, the Panasonic research showed that almost 72% of the workers in the sector actively use their mobile devices between 3-7 hours every day.

Given the extremely mobile and highly demanding work environment, their mobile devices face some of the roughest handling and operational conditions in a typical work week and that the majority (68%) of respondents surveyed had experienced their laptop/tablet breaking down due to hardware failure, half of them twice in the last five years.

Jason Lee, Product Marketing Manager for Toughbook at Panasonic Australia told Transport & Logistic News that workers should be using mobile devices that can handle the stress of this fast-paced environment.

“The transport and warehousing sector needs devices that allow workers to be agile and productive, without being tied to a specific location. Normal devices fail to rise up to the challenge of these difficult operational conditions as they’re not rugged enough for a typical distribution environment, resulting in lost productivity and increased cost of repairs,” Jason said.

“A typical laptop or tablet is more delicate than many people realise and it doesn’t take much to break the screen or damage the hard drive. A rugged device will offer a much lower total cost of ownership compared to an off-the-shelf solution, saving the company thousands of dollars down the line in costly IT repairs and lost productivity.”
