Aussies to help set new world record for e-waste collection

We all love our technology but it seems like most of us don’t know what to do with the old stuff when it’s time to upgrade. 90% of all computers and TVs can be recycled and made into new products but only 10-17% of Australia’s e-waste has been recycled. You know what that means? The rest has ended up in landfill or is still hanging around in the garage!

Panasonic are proud to be in partnership with TechCollect, a nationwide recycling service for old computer and accessories, printers and TVs, because while we love technology just as much as you, we want to help reduce the 106,000 tonnes of e-waste disposed of each year in Australia.

In order to tackle the nation’s fastest growing waste problem, TechCollect is driving an initiative to set the world record for the most e-waste collected for recycling between April 20th and 28th.

TechCollect is making it easy for everyone to get involved, whether you’re a household, school, charity or small business, through its 65 permanent drop-off sites that are open year-round in communities across Australia.

Simply drop-off e-waste to a TechCollect*1 site between 20th and 28th April for FREE recycling to help set a new world record – visit www.techcollect.com.au for locations and opening hours.

*1 TechCollect accepts any make and model of computers and accessories, printers or TVs but unfortunately cannot accept microwaves, power tools or white goods. You can find recycling options for these and other items such as printer cartridges and mobile phones by visiting Planet Ark’s website www.recyclingnearyou.com.au
