This year the city of Bucharest celebrated its 555th birthday and as with any milestone birthday, a huge party marked the happy occasion. It’s the largest city in Romania, and the nation’s capital, so the Bucharest 555 birthday celebrations were certainly a magical affai
Panasonic were invited the party, using our PT-DZ21K projectors to help create the largest-ever 3D architectural mapping Europe has seen; transforming the Parliament Palace into a stunning visual commemoration of Bucharest’s history (watch the video).
20,000 square metres of the Parliament Palace in Romania were used as a video projection backdrop.
The robust DZ21K projector was chosen for its size (and ability to be easily stacked), resolution, remote control capabilities from a distance, and the fact that this projector is so energy efficient.
104 projectors stacked in 6 towers worked together with one cluster of projectors each creating one image.
Together, the PT-DZ21K projector clusters created the huge display by using edge blending and geometric mapping software to create a single seamless image.
60,000 people gathered to watch these video projections come to life.
Five teams of visual artists competed to showcase their skills by designing animated displays each lasting five minutes and 55 seconds.
The event was won by a French team led by Damien Fontaine.
Happy birthday Bucharest! May you have at least 555 more.
