From office parties, to family gatherings and fun nights out on the town, this isn’t just the season to be jolly; it’s also the season when it seems like everyone has a camera in their hand! The constant refrain of “smile!” can be a little daunting but you needn’t agonise about looking your best in those Facebook tags if you just follow a few simple tips…
CARE ABOUT COLOUR
Colour perception really can make a big difference. For instance, an image of someone wearing yellow will make a person seem bigger, where as a person wearing green will appear smaller. Black is another classic choice. As well as white, it’s great for creating contrast with the background. It’s said that black is a slimming colour which may add to its appeal.
Choose the right colours for you and work it. And if you can’t make a decision, just wear something that fits your style. If you feel comfortable in your clothes, it will show in the photo.
MAKE IT UP RIGHT
Shimmery make-up can look great in real life but on camera, it often comes out looking oily or sweaty. During the party season, ditch the shimmer and go for a simple palette with a matte powder and a natural-looking rosy cheek.
PUT YOUR SMILE TO WORK
Sometimes a great big exuberant smile isn’t what plays well on camera. The more photogenic smiles are often quite gentle. Practice reining your smile in a little for pics, with a relaxed cheek and your mouth open slightly to reveal just a flash of the upper teeth. Not only will your smile be pretty, your eyes will stay open nice and wide as well.
