Equipped with Leica lenses, our compact digital camera DMC-LC5 (photo) and DMC-F7 were the first products of the Lumix series released in 2001.

Our award-winning LUMIX digital cameras may be a household brand name now, but 12 years ago, we were only just unveiling our very first models; the DMC-LC5 and DMC-F7. Equipped with world-renowned Leica lenses and imaging capabilities that outstripped the competition, these two cameras paved the way for the line-up of LUMIX compacts and LUMIX G Series that we are so proud of today.

The DMC-LC5 was a ‘prosumer’ four megapixel digital cameras with a 3x Leica optical zoom lens with full manual control, while DMC-F7 was a compact two megapixel digital camera with a 2x Leica optical zoom lens. Both cameras utilised MMC (SD) storage cards and were powered by proprietary Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries.

From little things, big things grow and the LUMIX range continues to showcase the optimum combination of picture quality, intelligent functionality, and stunning design to allow photographers of all levels to capture the perfect moment.

From our high-quality G series interchangeable lens cameras through to our extensive range of compact cameras, LUMIX offers market-leading technology with easy-to-use features. Our cameras are now famous for their high-quality lenses, advanced imaging engines and shoot-assist functions like iA (Intelligent Auto). The modern line-up even features models with built-in Wi-Fi® allowing them to work with smartphones to remotely shoot images, view them and then share to social networks.
