TechCollect’s a Guinness World Record!

If you want to make it into the Guinness Book of Records, it’s all about the numbers game. What sort of numbers does it take? 2 independent witnesses overseeing 7 days of drop-offs across all Aussie states and territories to count 474,227kg of e-waste recycling. Yes, that’s what it took for TechCollect to set a new Guinness World Record for the most e-waste ever collected for recycling in one week.

Australians participated in the week-long campaign in late April this year which saw over 474 tonnes of old TVs, computers and printers collected for recycling by TechCollect across Australia. What does that even look like? Well, the amount collected is the equivalent of approximately four blue whales in weight, so that is a whole e-waste that won’t be going into landfill.

The Guinness World Record attempt may be over but you can still recycle your e-waste for free. There are over 70 permanent TechCollect recycling sites across Australia, just jump online and find out where your nearest drop-off centre is located.

Panasonic are proud to be in partnership with TechCollect, a nationwide recycling service for old computer and accessories, printers and TVs, because while we love technology just as much as you, we want to help dispose of e-waste responsibly.
