A photographer’s talent is to see and capture the magic in the world around them. They love to shoot nature’s beauty. Imposing mountains, pristine landscapes, sunrises and sunsets, birds and wildlife. They love to travel to exotic locations, immersing themselves in unfamiliar sights and sounds. They love busy streets, photographing people, places and fleeting moments. They love being where the action is, shooting sporting heroes and the crowds that cheer them on.
So what happens to a photographer when you take all that away? How do they get their creative fix when you prevent them from travelling? How do they maintain their photographic eye when you encourage them to stay home and self-isolate?
We endeavoured to find out by equipping some talented up and coming photographers with a Lumix S1 or S1R mirrorless camera during lockdown. Isolation gives people time to think and reflect, so we encouraged each photographer to use gratitude for their inspiration and show us why they are #GratefulToCapture. Check out some of the amazing shots all taken in their homes, backyards and neighbourhoods!

She said yes! I had the opportunity to try the Panasonic Lumix S1 and a challenge to capture something I’m grateful for. What better thing to capture than my proposal to my incredibly supportive partner, Ellise.

I’m grateful to have the time to be in the moment with my kids and appreciate these natural artworks that I had forgotten to even notice – @PaulHarris
