Your Panasonic Air Conditioner works hard when the seasons change, so spring and autumn are usually the best times to give it a quick once-over.
A well-kept unit runs more efficiently, and that’s good news for your comfort and your power bill. A neglected one can end up circulating dust, pollen and other irritants around your home, impacting the effectiveness of the units cooling or heating capacity.
The good news? Most of the upkeep takes only a few minutes, and you don’t need any special tools.
Start with the air filters
Think of your filters as your AC’s first line of defence. They trap dust, dirt and other airborne particles before they get recirculated through your home.
Most Panasonic Wall Mounted Split systems have two filters, tucked in behind the front panel. When they’re clogged, your unit has to work harder to move air. A quick clean helps it keep cooling or heating efficiently and keeps your indoor air fresher.

How to clean your filters
- Switch it off. Turn the unit off at the remote, then disconnect the power.
- Open the front panel. Lift it up to reveal the filters.
- Remove each filter. Gently pull the tab near the bottom edge of the filter.
- Rinse with water. Be gentle with the filter surface. For really grubby filters, use warm water with a pH-neutral soap or mild household detergent.
- Skip the harsh stuff. No strong chemicals, and no scrubbing or scouring.
- Dry in the shade. Leave the filters out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources until they’re completely dry.
- Pop them back in. Once they’re bone dry, reinstall them and close the panel.
Give the outside a wipe
Next, wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Pay attention to the panels and around the vents, where dust loves to gather. It takes seconds and keeps your unit looking fresh.
Check on the outdoor unit
Your outdoor unit does a lot of the heavy lifting, so it’s worth a quick visual check:
- Clear the airflow. Make sure leaves, boxes and overgrown plants aren’t crowding the unit.
- Check it’s stable. It should sit firmly on its mounting brackets.
- Look over the hoses. Check for cracks or splits in the hose running to the main unit.
Only do this if the outdoor unit is safely and easily reachable from the ground. Never climb or stretch to get a look.
Note: These steps apply to most Panasonic Wall Mounted Split systems. Check your owner’s manual for your specific model.
Know when to call in a pro
Spotted damage, or noticed something that doesn’t seem right, like strange noises or smells? Contact a qualified technician. Anything beyond basic cleaning is best left to the experts.
Keep it regular
Little and often is the secret. Set a reminder to check your filters every few weeks when your AC is getting a workout. A clean filter means better airflow, fresher air and an AC that doesn’t have to work as hard, which can help keep your energy costs in check.
