Professional Display

Panasonic supplied a 1,727m2 LED large-screen display system, the largest ever for a Winter Games. Above the grandstands, the main ice hockey stadium featured an enormous hanging cubic screen measuring 6.5m in height and 30m in circumference, plus a seamless, ribbon-shaped screen that nearly circled the entire stadium. These two elements contributed to an unprecedented level of spectator excitement and emotion in the venue.

Security Solutions

Panasonic supplied approximately 7,000 security cameras to the Sochi 2014. To fully address terrorism concerns voiced ahead of the Opening Ceremony, we installed a record number of cameras far exceeding the 2,500 installed at the London 2012 Games. The Games were a great success without any major security issues.

Broadcasting Equipment

Panasonic achieved high-speed, high-definition program production making use of the P2HD series, broadcasting equipment with superior mobility. In addition, Panasonic supplied the IBC (International Broadcast Centre) and the host station with a large number of equipment such as 100 units of P2HD cameras (P2HD recorders/P2HD cameras) and 4,000+ monitors to allow global broadcasters to send high-quality footage all over the world in a timely manner, contributing to the digitalisation of Olympic media.

The Full HD digital video format, “AVC-Intra100,” was used again following its success at the London 2012 Games. The network-based work flow allowed for global broadcasters to send high-quality footage all over the world in a timely manner, contributing to the digitalisation of Olympic media.

Professional Projector

HD Visual Communication System
