The judges were impressed by all the finalists growth plans which included national expansion and international exporting. A shortlist of over a hundred small and medium sized businesses from ACT, Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory Western Territory, South Australia and New South Wales have been chosen as finalists for this year’s awards, with Panasonic sponsoring the ‘Medium Business Award’. For the first time in its 18-year-history the awards offered entrants the chance to get a free ‘Business Health Check’. The ‘Business Health Check’, which was developed in conjunction with the NSW Business Chamber, confirmed that all the territories’ leading firms had solid business plans in place.

“The Health Check showed that all of the companies selected as finalists had thorough plans looking as far as a decade ahead and were primed and ready to seek out future growth opportunities. This is well above the national average, where less than half of all small and medium businesses have business plans. These leading businesses are also focused on knowing their customers better, increasing productivity, enhancing day-to-day processes and expanding their product offering.”
