Disaster loss assessors named Queensland’s top business

12 July 2011 – A company responsible for speeding up insurance claims and repairs for cyclone and flood-affected Queenslanders has been named the state’s ‘Business of the Year’.

Stream Group Aust Pty Ltd, which provides assessing and repair management services for insurance companies in Australia and New Zealand, managed more than 15,000 claims in the first three months of 2011, equal to its total activity the previous year.

Australian Pressure Testing Services (APTS) was launched as a one-man consultancy in 2003 by director Paul Newbound, operating from his dining room table and borrowing against equity in the family home.

Top NSW business takes online learning to the world

8 July 2011 – A Coffs Harbour software developer whose e-learning systems are used by more than a million people worldwide is the 2011 Telstra NSW Business of the Year.

Janison, established in 1988 by Wayne and Jacquie Houlden to develop and host online learning systems, portals and assessments, took top honours at the 2011 Telstra NSW Business Awards in Sydney on Friday 8th July.

Green home strategy wins ACT agency top business award

5 July 2011 – A Canberra real estate agency helping homeowners to sell by promoting energy efficiency has been named the 2011 Telstra ACT Business of the Year.

Luton Properties, which has 80 staff across seven offices in Canberra, also won the Panasonic Australia Medium Business Award announced in Canberra tonight.

Established in 1999 and headed by Richard Luton, the business focuses on environmental sustainability in its own office and encourages vendors to “green” their homes before sale by giving advice on home energy audits.

Luton Properties, Canberra’s largest privately-owned real estate agency, has achieved 185 record suburb sales prices among its 6500 home sales during the past 11 years, with 270 sales in excess of one million dollars.
